Hey, dear reader!
November (aka Freuvember 😁) brought plenty of surprises to Hamburg’s tech and startup community. Here’s a quick recap of what happened:
We launched Community Spotlight, highlighting stories from founders building their companies in Hamburg. Check it out on Instagram and give us a follow (we’re so close to 100 followers!)
With 25+ events, November became the busiest month since I started this newsletter, and for the first time English events outnumbered German ones (65% vs 35%) — Yay! 🥂
The folks from AI Beavers announced Hamburg’s first-ever AI Hackathon, backed by OpenAI, Cursor, ElevenLabs and more — putting Hamburg firmly on the AI map.
At Impact Hub’s 2nd Zebra Investment Night, impact-focused startups raised a record €200k (that’s €75k more than last time).
On a sad note, AI.STARTUP.HUB closed after 4 years. In that time they supported 123 startups which together raised about €52 million. It honestly feels like a step backward for the ecosystem, which already needs more early-stage and AI-focused support, not fewer options…

December will be a quieter month, which makes it perfect for Christmas markets and reconnecting with people you met this year but never really caught up with.
That’s exactly why, on December 18, we’re wrapping up the year with our friends from 2hearts over a cup of mulled wine and good conversations with other founders and tech folks.
